Face and head massage for migraines

Over time I have discovered that I hold a lot of tension in my face. Without previously being aware of it, I squint, front, pout, scowl, and grimace my way through the day. Each time I do so, I introduce tensions into my face muscles.

One of the best things to come out of my mindful migraine approach is a routine I came up with that I call ‘feeling my face’. Without touching my face with my fingers, several times throughout the day I concentrate on how my face is ‘resting’. I try to keep everything in my face slack, loose and warm – like melted wax. It sounds strange, but I think I’m losing the wrinkles between my eyes, and even on days I don’t feel well, people say ‘you’re looking better’. Lessening tension in your face and scalp is a fantastic way of decreasing tension triggers and increasing your chances of living a pain-less life.
