Long meditations for migraines

Although I rarely have the time and patience, I do occasionally experiment with longer running meditations. Meditations, such as Jon Kabat-Zinn’s ‘the mountain’ remind you to sit still and straight and noble, whilst the vagaries of pain and emotion flow over you and you remain unmoved.

I know it’s not what they were designed for, but sometimes I listen to them while I do the ironing (of course you can’t close your eyes, but you can do all the breathing and clear-your-mind exercises while you work). Just remember not to meditate while you are driving!

A meditation a day seems to keep the migraines at bay.

Here’s one on YouTube that I quite liked (17mins):

Here is my collection on Spotify if you’re also interested in trying them out: Long Migraine Meditations (spotify.com)
