Visualization is a means of imagining yourself into another place or time… or imagining anyone anywhere for that matter. At the start of this year, I gifted myself a New Year’s Revelation which included manifesting a peaceful-yet-powerful version of myself, and since then, I have been using visualization to help strengthen my progress.
As well as imagining green and gold colors surrounding me and invisible mentors giving me advice (as described in the New Year’s post), I have also visualized Happy Places to help me get to sleep and visualized myself as a meditating warrior showered in cherry blossoms (as you do), as explained in my post about Japanese Manifesting.
All of these are examples of deliberate visualizations which I choose to indulge in.
More recently, I came across the idea of letting your mind choose the visualizations for you.
First, it was when I tried a guided meditation that prompted you to close your eyes, imagine yourself in your safe place and then challenged you to let the image change and morph as your subconscious decided what details it wished to add and subtract.
I attempted the task and was startled by where my mind took me and the lessons that I chose to take from it.
For me, the image of my safe place was me happily tapping away at my computer in my home-office. The room grew a bit darker and the technology disappeared, and I sat alone on a chair in a room that started to become more den-like. The image felt peaceful and cozy, and I witnessed myself as a willing hermit and smiled. But then the image grew a little darker, and with all the windows and doors now gone, it felt colder and more lonely. I sensed that by retreating to my home-office, to work, read, and meditate in blissful quietude, I also risked being a little too alone, a little too removed from the wider world of light and noise and activity. The image shifted one last time, and I heard a muted knocking at the cave-door, and I imagined one of my daughters asking to come in. With a zing of frustration, I sensed that the silence would end and real life would intrude. With that jolt, my chair turned into a throne of swords and thorns, and I realized that whilst I enjoy a sense of power and peace in my cubby-hole – moderation matters – I belong to a world filled with family and friends, and if I retreat too far, I will ultimately be less comfortable in my little kingdom of shadows.
More recently, I came across a blog called Self Help Pro with a post about using visualization to help you heal, but, with an emphasis on non-control: Clairvoyant Visualization to Overcome Daily Anxiety
As the post notes: “Clairvoyant visualization uses your natural clairvoyant sense—the ability to see intuitive images—to rewire anxious thoughts into calm visions, reducing daily stress in minutes.”
I won’t take too much of their thunder (feel free to read their whole post – it’s very interesting and provides a step by step process to follow), but the idea is that you request a calming image, allow it to appear without judgement, then embellish it as you see fit whilst simultaneously sensing your anxiety dissolve. Then you anchor the good feelings in your body, journal it, and lean into it in the future. (They give the example of a golden protective shield that can be visualized quickly as required, and how it can instantly deflect feelings of negativity.)
After reading their post, I closed my eyes, took some deep breaths, focused on my heart and asked for my own symbol of calm. For a while, there was nothing but a pulsating darkness, but I stayed in the moment and trusted the process. A short while later, I was rewarded with the lovely feeling / image of a blanket of moss draped across my shoulders.
This time I did not dwell on the image longer, nor seek to look into the details or wait to see what it might morph into. Instead, I took a deep breath, opened my eyes and simply felt the warm, fuzzy feeling of being immersed in Mother Nature’s embrace. It made me happy because it brought to mind a gentler (more cuddly / less warrior) version of the Mood Board of sunshine and grass that I created to manifest health and happiness in 2026:

I don’t use it very often anymore (because I’m tired of all the “slop” that circulates the internet), but I asked AI to make me an image to help you see what I saw – and although the lady in the ‘painting’ looks older than me, it gives you a good sense of why the “clairvoyant image” I received made me smile.

Try it for yourself – don’t push too hard or be judgmental of what you receive – just ask for an image of calm kindness and see where your subconscious takes you.
Sometimes the subconscious has a message it wants to get through, sometimes it simply reminds you that you are on the right track… occasionally it chooses to remain a mystery!
