Sacrifice

A field of red poppies to represent the sacrifices made by our soldiers

Today (the 25th of April) in Australia and New Zealand, is ANZAC Day (the acronym stands for “Australian and New Zealand Army Corps”). Since 1916, it’s been a National Day of Remembrance which pays respect to all those who served and died in all the wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping missions our nations have been involved in. It generally involves a dawn vigil and wreath-laying ceremony at each of our local cenotaphs, and then a day off work to visit family and friends and experience the value of the freedom those who made the ultimate sacrifice fought to maintain.

As such, no real post today – just a reminder that every day, in big and small ways, all around the world, people make personal sacrifices (many of which go unnoticed) to benefit others.  If you’re one of those people – thank you.
