“Unleashing my inner power: Dare to dream”

Published by

I’ve mentioned before that I spend most of my reading-time in Blog-land, but I do occasionally get out and about on Instagram and LinkedIn. It was over on LinkedIn that I met Amber Horrox from the United Kingdom who “helps migraine warriors find their voice” when she regularly writes for her Substack page Warrior Within.

Excitingly for Amber, she has just published an ebook in which she describes a year in her life (in migraine remission) and includes several pages of journal prompts at the end. You can buy her book here on Amazon.

[And at the risk of getting sidetracked, I can’t pass up on what I feel is my moral obligation to warn you to please, please, please, be careful when you purchase things on that site not to accidently / unknowingly trigger a ‘Prime’ membership subscription which will dock your credit card every month.]

Anyway – back to the exciting news for Amber – I thought the best way to promote her new release is to hand this blog post over to Amber and let her talk in her own words….

Worthy and Wanting

I’d wanted to go on a retreat since I was a teenager. I finally booked one as a 40th birthday gift to myself in January 2020. It did not escape my attention that I waited until after I’d experienced a mental breakdown, chronic illness and disability by it to allow myself something for which I’d longed to do for over 2 decades.

It was on this deep healing retreat that I added “international best-seller” to a vision board we created. The seed to write a book having been planted only months before.

We were also tasked to write a card out to ourselves that would be kept and put into the post to us some time after the event.

I came back from this retreat weekend away feeling changed, transformed.

Connecting to what it was I truly wanted, allowing myself the gift of it and dreaming up a vision beyond my wildest dreams has continued to be life changing.

Linda sharing her post on writing yourself a love letter inspired me to share what I wrote in this card with you.

Dear Amber

A massive heartfelt thank you for truly investing in yourself this past year or two. Investing in your health, your healing, your heart, your relationships, your future, your family.

Well done for recognizing that the struggle and the challenge and difficult and toughest times over the last few years have been your transformative years, that this was needed in order for you to become who you were really meant to be. In order for you to find your true self, in order for you to find your higher purpose. In order for you to let go of all that has been holding you back all these years.

You are loved beyond measure. Loved by your mum, loved by your family, sister, brothers, nieces, nephews, their partners, your partner. Loved by your clients, friends and all you encounter and meet going forward.

You have come so far since successfully enduring your struggle and you are living your best life yet. You are healthy and happy, fulfilled, blessed and abundant in all areas of your life.

I love your courage to go inside yourself, find that little girl and tell her you love her, hug her and will look after her.

I love your courage to go deeper and connect with your inner child and self, allow emotion to bubble up within you and overflow so that you can give it an outlet and let it all go, set yourself free and lighten the load. Standing tall and powerful and strong, shoulders back and relaxed. Giving yourself more power, more abundance, more light and potential than you’ll ever know possible. And one in which you will leave a long-lasting, impactful, loving and inspiring legacy.

I love you Amber Horrox, I really love you.

Thank you for all you do for you.

Amber xx

It took me a good couple of years of reading and re-reading this to really feel the weight and the truth of these words. When I first began to connect with my inner child, she had no self-worth at all, not even a tiny scrap. Now she is ecstatic that I can articulate to others the agony of what I have been living with all this time, in a way that the other person can at least grasp or in some way comprehend what I am saying.

I had no idea that a few years later I would be publishing a book, never mind one about Unleashing My Inner Power. Nor that I would have other books in the pipeline to be published soon after. And that the words that I write would form part of a legacy of work that will inspire and empower those of us who live with chronic migraine – who are finding ourselves waking up to the truth that we matter, our health matters – in quite the way that they are.

How do you feel about unleashing your inner power, daring to dream and flying fearless? You can start this very journey by writing a love letter to your future self. What words would flow out of you and onto your page? How might you use these words of encouragement and support to change the trajectory of the path that you’re on?

Amber is a soul-led writer who shares a new way of being, a new way of seeing and a new way of believing.

4 years on from initially writing this letter, her first ebook is out in the world.

Transformative Memoir and 3 part journal “Unleashing My Inner Power: Daring to Dream & Flying Fearless” is available for you to buy on Amazon or download for free on Kindle Unlimited: https://amzn.to/3Y0oIo9

Amber would also love to hear from you – you can connect with her on Linked In and subscribe to her blog and podcast platform, Warrior Within https://warriorwithin.substack.com/

If nothing else, she wants you to know that you do matter, you are worthy and you’ve totally got this!

Sending warrior strength and healing

With a reminder that you’ve got this,
