Happy Holidays everyone and farewell (for now)

Where I am in Sydney Australia, it is early Friday morning on the 20th of December… that means it is only a few more sleeps until Christmas… and that means, we’re about to enter a period of festive fanfare and potential chronic pain chaos.

Last week I blogged about the worst migraine I ever had, a #10 migraine on my pain scale, but hereโ€™s a photo (my hubby took) from one of my #9s: a trip to the hospital โ€“ on Christmas day โ€“ and yes, that is a Santa-nurse adjusting my drip!ย  And yes, I did have (dyed) dark hair once upon a time… and yes, I did have the sheet over my head the whole time I was in hospital โ€“ the lighting was SO bright!! (You can read more about that day on my post about the importance of hydration.)

this is a picture of the author in hospital on Christmas day being treated for a migraine

As an aside – I don’t often go to hospital for migraines… I’ve tried it a couple of times, and they tend to leave you as a low priority in the waiting room, potentially for hours… no matter how bad you feel, you just don’t look as dramatically unwell as those who are bleeding and screaming… it’s sad but true.

That said – if you have been vomiting for 3 days straight due to a migraine, can’t keep your food or fluids down, and have started to shake and hallucinate, then I recommend you get yourself to hospital where they can put you on a drip and get you simultaneously rehydrated and medicated.

[Disclaimer – I say it all the time, but if you’re new here – please know that I am NOT a doctor – I can only give you feel good assistance, never medical advice – please be sure to speak to a health care professional about your own individual circumstances.]

Now – because it is Christmas time in Australia, and also school holidays, I will be busy putting a shrimp on the barbie (I actually really might do prawns on the BBQ this year), so I will be putting The Mindful Migraine Blog on ice for three whole weeks. I will be back to regular posting, Monday to Friday mornings (my time), from the 13th of January onwards.

I can’t tell you enthusiastically enough how much I have LOVED this blogging journey from mid January to now – meeting all of you has been THE BEST THING EVER! I only hope that you have enjoyed reading my version of migraine “edutainment” even half as much as I have enjoyed writing it!

If you miss me over the next three weeks, go on an adventure by visiting the SEARCH page of my blog, type in some random word and see where it gets you (and don’t forget to be a friendly blogger and like the comments other people have left!). Or, if you’re more of an organized person with plenty of time on your hands, try the Mini-Mindfulness Course, and then read 13 short stories from my free downloadable ebook: A Gothic Migraine.

Until next year – may all your holiday hopes and New Years dreams come true (with or without bells on)!

Know that wherever in the world you are, I’ll be wishing for you to have a more-pain-less year ahead.

Remember that healing IS possible, and that you are never truly alone… and as 2025 begins, let’s all get excited about the new chapter in our lives which is about to unfold… we’ve got this!

Take care taking care out there! Linda xox

    Dear Linda,
There is a character called Linde in Ibsenโ€™s Dollโ€™s House who is the friend of the heroine Nora who leaves husbandโ€™s home to get independence, who is the first such woman in European history. I remembered that friend of Nora looking at your name. โ€จImpact on our minds of your posts is like the reverberation of guitar ๐ŸŽธ strings.
This post too has the same effect.
