UGH – time for a change

Published by

on

The last couple of weeks have been really tough for me. I don’t know why, or what for, but I’ve been sick and sick and sick. First it was COVID (for the first time that I know of), and then when I recovered (all but my sense of smell which is still missing), I got the worst 3-day migraine I’ve had for a looooong time. One day after recovering from the shock and pain of it all, I got another 3-dayer knock-down-drag-it-out-migraine-shocker… which is not something that has happened for over 2 years (since I was back in my most chronic migraine days).

As a result of all this downtime, I’m way behind in every aspect of my life, including blogging. I usually have a few posts ready to go in advance, so that “normal broadcasting” will continue uninterrupted… but now I have run out of posts, and back up posts, and whilst my motivation is still as high as ever, my energy levels are sitting at rock bottom.

So, I’ve made the tough decision to cut back a little. In everything. Including blogging. One of the main motivators for this blog has been quality rather than quantity, so it makes sense to keep posting, just not as often.

Instead of posting 5 days a week, Monday-through-Friday (which seems like a small miracle of super-human-effort now when I look back on it!), I’m going to do 3 posts a week instead. For me, the posts will go out on Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning, which seems logical. For some of you readers, however, I know this means you’ll get emails on a Sunday night, Tuesday and Thursday night, which is a bit random… sorry.

AND because I am still struggling with the after-effects of the second soul-destroying migraine in a week, I’m going to call it quits for today and come back again in 48 hours.

Know that I’m still here, and still always keen for a chat – even if it might take me a while to reply – I’m still pulling my weight, I just can’t drag as much as I used to, or as much as I’d like – but I’m pulling as much as a I can!

OK then – take care taking care everyone, and let’s cross paths again in a couple of days, and then every couple of days after that!

Hope you’re all doing OK,

Linda xx

PS – the image included at the top of this post is not me… but it is how I’m feeling… at least 100 years old and fading away… although she’s more blingy than I am – yay her!!

Oh thank you… I like your new logo – it took me a minute to figure out who you were!! 5 days was just too much… 3 seems manageable and enjoyable – I can always bounce back later if I bounce back later!! ❣️

I’m so sorry it’s been so rough! I do appreciate your perseverance and resilience as you’ve fought the good fight and have maintained writing so frequently. That in and of itself is quite impressive. Know I’m praying for you.

Thank you lovely – all support gratefully accepted! I’m feeling a little better already knowing some of the load has lightened – It will also give me more time to visit everyone and read rather than write! Thank you for your support, L❣️

Thank you lovely – I thought I was doing OK, but I think “task creep” was getting the better of me, and it was only when I really crashed that I realized how much extra load I’ve accidentally started carrying again. I’m feeling better already though! L xx

Thank you kindly – I feel like a bit of a failure having to give it up – but on the other hand, it’s only a reduction not a total walking away… and I can always pick it up again later if I feel better. Take care, your friendship means the world to me! Linda xx

I was wondering how the heck you were blogging so much, amazing. But with your recent increase, I would do the same and cut back. I wanted to say that I’m doing pretty well so far on the Botox, after 3 rounds of it. Relax and take care of you!

Yay for Botox – it took a couple of rounds before I noticed a difference, but now I’m nearly at the 2 year mark, and I really do start to notice it tapering off at the end of each cycle – it is great when you find something that (normally) works wonders – I think it might just be COVID that threw me off… I’m feeling a bit better already – but I’m also looking forward to having more time to read thanks to less writing! You only get one life and I’m intent on making the most of it! But I do think that sometimes pushing through too often or for too long might not be ideal (even if you don’t feel like you’re overdoing it at the time – looking back I realize I really was!) Thanks for your encouragement – it always means so much to me! Linda xx

Oh no, I’m so sorry for your pain of late. Covid must be the culprit to your migraine outbreaks since you have been doing so much better for so long. Hang in there and give yourself time to reset again. It will happen as your system heals. Go extra easy on yourself. I mean like really baby yourself, and no one would blame you if you take a break from blogging all together. We will be here for you when you get back. Take care, Linda. 💖

I didn’t know this – but I really think it is what happened – the difference in my health was such a dramatic change – it’s been a couple of weeks now, so I’m hoping the effects are fading (but I still can’t smell anything which is a bit alarming!) Thanks for being here, Linda xx

So sorry to hear about this relapse – presumably triggered by the covid virus. Although I always enjoy reading your emails, I’ve always felt that maintaining a daily schedule must have put you under a lot of pressure at times so I’m glad you’ve decided to cut down – at least for now!

It’s funny because posting daily was something I really took great joy and pride from, but looking back, I think there was a sort of “task creep” where I was accidentally taking on more and more without noticing it, and it was becoming too much. I feel a bit bad for stepping back, but 3 days a week is still more than enough – and now I’ll have more time to read!! Linda xoxox
